Line Overlap

The technique of passing the needle over an already-made line again to reinforce thickness, saturation or fix gaps.

Line overlap is used when a line needs reinforcement — either because part of the ink didn't hold well, or because the artist intentionally wants to thicken the stroke. It should be done carefully to avoid over-traumatizing the same strip of skin, which can cause excessive swelling or increase the risk of blowout. When done well, it's practically unnoticeable in the final result and helps ensure the line stays visible after healing.
